Agglomerated Diamond

Innovative Structure

Agglomerated diamond comprises an aggregation of numerous fine diamond powders bonded together using a specialized adhesive.

Self Sharpening Feature

The key feature is the ability of the embedded fine diamonds to self-sharpen upon becoming blunt, thereby exposing new, sharp diamonds.

Production Efficiency

This attribute significantly reduces the need for intermittent dressing during the grinding process, enhancing production efficiency and reducing costs.

Finer Grinding Effects

Its spherical shape makes it isotropic and less likely to cause significant scratches while grinding.

Customizable Sizes

The original particle sizes usually range from 0 – 6 μm. The agglomerated particle sizes range from 3 – 60 μm. The sizes of the particles can be customized based on specific need.

Advantages

Agglomerated Diamonds

They self-sharpen during grinding, maintaining high abrasive force throughout the grinding process.

Conventional MCD / PCD

They become worn and blunt during the grinding, resulting in decreased grinding efficiency.

Compares

Agglomerated Diamonds

Preparation Methods: Typically formed by physically or chemically aggregating small diamond particles together.

Structural Characteristics: has a looser structure, with the binding strength between diamond particles possibly not as strong as in PCD. This structural difference affects the physical properties of the material.

Polycrystalline Diamond

Preparation Methods: PCD is produced by binding tiny diamond particles together with a catalyst under high pressure / high temperature.

Structural Characteristics: Has a very dense structure, with diamond particles interconnected by chemical bonds formed via a metallic catalyst, making PCD extremely hard and wear-resistant.
